Meeto Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 August 2026
Meeto ("Meeto", "we", "us", "our") operates the Meeto mobile application (the "App"), a social
and dating app that helps people meet, join groups, and attend events. This Privacy Policy explains
what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as
described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account & identity information
- Information from your chosen sign-in method: Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, or phone
number verified via SMS one-time passcode.
- Your name, date of birth, and gender, as provided during profile setup.
- Device identifiers and a push-notification token, used to keep you signed in securely and to
deliver notifications.
1.2 Profile information
- Profile photos you upload.
- Bio, occupation, company, and education, if you choose to add them.
- Interests, "looking for" preferences, and lifestyle details (such as social media habits,
smoking, drinking, exercise, and pets), if you choose to add them.
- City, state, and country — either typed manually or, if you tap "use my current location",
derived once from your device's GPS coordinates at that moment. We do not track your location
in the background.
1.3 Activity & content you create
- Waves, matches, and messages (text, photos, and voice notes) you send in chats.
- Groups and events you create, join, or attend, and content you post within them.
- Blocks and reports you submit against other users.
- App usage signals such as last-active time, used to show online status to other users (which
you can turn off in Settings).
1.4 Payment information
If you purchase Sparks (our in-app currency) or a Premium subscription, your payment is processed
directly by our payment providers — Razorpay and PayPal. We do not receive or store your full card,
UPI, or bank account details; we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and its amount.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and operate your account, and show your profile to other users as intended.
- To power discovery and matching — including distance-based sorting, if you've shared a location.
- To operate chat, groups, and events, and to notify you about activity relevant to you (a match,
a message, an event near you, and similar).
- To process purchases of Sparks or Premium and maintain your Sparks balance.
- To detect and act on blocks/reports, and to enforce our safety and community standards.
- To maintain the security and reliability of the App.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to operate the App:
| With whom | What's shared | Why |
| Other Meeto users | Your profile, and messages you send to them | The core function of the App |
| Firebase (Google) | Sign-in tokens, push-notification token | Authentication and notifications |
| Razorpay / PayPal | Purchase amount and your device/account context needed to process payment | Processing Sparks/Premium purchases |
| Mapbox | Coordinates you choose to share, or a place name you search | Turning coordinates into a city name and vice versa |
| Law enforcement / legal requests | As required to comply with a valid legal obligation | Legal compliance |
4. Your Choices & Controls
- Privacy Controls: you can hide your distance and age from other users in Settings.
- Location: location sharing is opt-in and one-shot per update — we never track
your location continuously or in the background.
- Blocking & reporting: you can block or report any user at any time from
their profile.
- Notifications: you can manage push notification permissions from your device settings.
- Deleting your data: you can permanently delete your account at any time from
Profile → Delete Account, right inside the App. This immediately removes your profile from
discovery and signs you out on every device. If you'd rather not use the App to do this, you
can also email us using the contact details below and we'll process the request for you.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the App's
features. If you request account deletion, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a
reasonable period, except where we're required to retain certain records (for example, transaction
records) to comply with law.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS/WSS) and authenticated
access to uploaded media — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100%
secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
Meeto is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone
under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above
when we do, and, for material changes, provide additional notice within the App.
